I wrote a book on emergency nursing and offers from publishers had low royalties and slow publishing turn around times. The National Nurses in Business Association helped me self-publish and start my own small press publishing company. The book is now in its fifth edition. How many times have you changed employers in your career? Not counting 6 years of travel nursing, as a registered nurse, I have worked for seven different employers. What specific qualities and traits do you feel make nurses especially qualified to operate a business? In my opinion, the characters that make a successful nurse entrepreneur include: a strong desire to succeed, competitiveness, a strong self-esteem and work ethic, persuasion skills, and patience. What exactly is a nurse entrepreneur in your own words? A nurse engaged in a business venture. The puritan description of designing and developing an entirely new type of business venture is not the general viewpoint. Do you currently practice as a nurse? If yes in what type of setting?
