Starwater Press. Sole Proprietorship, Partnership, LLC or Corporation (C or S)? Star Water Press is a S corp registered in NY. aaha! books is an LLC registered in Texas. Why did you choose this business organization?: Because LLC’s or S corps offer some protection of my personal assets and the advantages of some of the same tax deductions as C corps but C corps cost more to file and I didn’t want to have to have other members or keep minutes etc. The business/services I provide: Star Water Press, LTD. is a publishing company I formed in 1987 in order to publish angel books and other “alternative” titles that would have taken too long to get published (at the time) at a traditional or commercial publishing house. I incorporated aaha!Books,LLC in 2010 when I moved to Texas to reprint my previously published books as well as other books in ebooks and other digital media. It is also the company from which I run hopefulhealer.com and starwater.com. My team works at both. aaha!books publishes books "Help for Hard Times, clear and simple-small books of big ideas" Star Water Press is for publishing books both in print and new media.

What is your experience and background in Nursing? Burn Unit Nursing Nursing Consulants (Total Care Home Health Care Agency) . Would you recommend Nursing as a career? Absolutely. It was and is the greatest passion in my life. Service is the best way to make the world a better place and nursing is practice for anything that happens in life. How did you hear about the Nursefriendly? I heard Andrew talk on RN.FM and found him interesting. The year were you first licensed as a nurse? 1966 LPN 1974 as RN 1974 got my MA in 1994 What school(s) of nursing did you attend? Professional organizations you have belonged to:
American Nurses Association 8515 Georgia Avenue - Suite 400 Silver Spring, MD 20910 1-800-274-4ANA http://www.nursingworld.org American Association of Critical-Care Nurses:"The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) was established in 1969 as a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) association designed to help educate nurses working in newly developed intensive care units." American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, 101 Columbia, Aliso Viejo, CA 92656-1491, 1-800-899-2226 or 949-362-2000, info@aacn.org http://www.aacn.org/ Noetic Science, http://www.noetic.org/ TED IBPA-Independent Book Publishers Assoc.
What specific qualities and traits do you feel make nurses especially
qualified to operate a business? If yes in what type of setting? Newspapers, magazines, TV, videos, and on the phone and internet in my small business which I run from home. Your most pressing concerns with the profession and healthcare: Inefficiency of the business of medicine and inability for everyone to have access to health care because of corporate greed. The devaluing of caring and nurturing by nurses and others. Intimidation or lateral violence in Nursing. With the increase in education and responsibility for Nurses, I worry that we don’t have a strong enough organization representing us. Burnout and ethical compromise which causes nurses to leave. How do you feel the coming nursing shortage (as baby boomers enter the healthcare system, and nurses retire in droves) will affect patient care? I think it will leave many older people and poor people uncovered by health insurance and unable to get into hospitals or assisted living facilities, but it will also offer nurses an opportunity, a new role as educators to family members who have to take care of family members at home.
