What Made You Decide To Start Your Own Business?
Can you tell us a bit about yourself? I started nursing school without being 100% sure that I could finish. However, when I started A&P, something inside of me just clicked & I figured out a way to study and go from a C average grade to almost straight A’s. I started nursing school with a 3.7 gpa and graduated with honors... I also passed the NCLEX examination in 75 questions. After I learned that I passed the NCLEX in 75 questions, I knew what I learned could help other people. So I wrote my first book: How to Succeed in Nursing School. In 2012, I started uploading videos to youtube and opened up my channel: EmpoweRN. In 2013, I also thought that I would help new nurses go through the rough transition & so I wrote my 2nd book: New nurse, How to Get, Keep and LOVE Your First Nursing Job. In less than 1 year this book was on Amazon’s Bestseller list.
What Attracted You To The Field of Nursing? I really like working around people and I thought that it would be fast pace & fun… I was right ;)
What is your experience and background in Nursing? I have 6 years working in Step down/Tele.
Would you recommend Nursing as a career? Definitely! Not only is it a great career in and of itself. But the schedule offers you the flexibility to do something else that you love on the side! Unlike most of jobs today… your work… stays at work! Unless I guess if you are a unit director lol!
